We're the Phudge Packerz and we're gonna reach up your rump and tickle your tonsils with our tunz of TEMPTATION and venereal verse!  We're more contagious than an STD!

SPAM ANIMALS  1986-1987

Spam Animals is really only a convenient header for a series of ad hoc collaborations with Chris Peterson which were done during 1986 & 1987. A lot of the material produced by this pairing was very much "tongue in cheek" and, to a certain extent, this puts the work in the category of a "fuck band" in that it was often about indulging in private jokes rather than trying to produce anything too serious.

NEPENTHE / THE POST INDUSTRIAL BAR BAND / SUPPLY & DEMAND  1985-1986

Nepenthe was founded with Glynis Peterson and John Oglow. Nepenthe had some ambitious ideas about performing, but decided to test the waters on stage by creating the alter ego of The Post Industrial Bar Band. Under this moniker, they produced a video (My Way) which was regularly aired on the local cable access video program Soundproof. PIBB performed once at Channel One Klub on January 29th, 1986. Although the group had officially disbanded by the end of 1986, a number of collaborations with Glynis were done up until 1988. A video of a cover version of the song Low Rider (originally by War) was produced in 1988 and Glynis was also a founding member (along with James Rigney) of the Laissez-faire label project in 1987 which released a compilation cassette called Define By Example.

THE JET CORPORATION  1984-1985

The Jet Corporation was founded in 1984 with John Oglow and Danny Bloudoff. While the group initially recorded in a house on the east side of Vancouver, a downtown warehouse space was acquired in the spring of 1985 which was converted into an after hours nightclub on the weekends while serving as the group's studio space during the week. The late night parties held on the weekends were an opportunity for the group to showcase their latest recordings among the rest of the strange sounds which were to be heard.  Eventually, the popularity of the parties drew the attention of the local law enforcement which forced the closure of the facility. These encounters with the police are commemorated in the recording V.C.P.D. which was released on the Security cassette compilation. The group also released a limited edition cassette of its recordings titled Antimatter which was reviewed in Profile magazine in the August, 1985 issue.

O.R.E.  1984-1986

O.R.E. (Oglow / Rosin Enterprises) was founded in 1984 with John Oglow. In addition to recording, ORE was also involved in a couple of video productions. The first was a short 8mm film entitled The King In A Vacuum which was shot in 1984 and scored in 1986. The group also did the soundtrack for the TTV (Blair Stapleton) produced Dominatrix video (1985).  The sound of ORE was strongly inspired by the early Industrial movement, but tended more toward the darkly ambient or surrealistic side of it than the hard, beat driven dance music that would later become associated with the style. Where rhythm did take center stage, it was more funky and playful than hammering or robotic. Many of the early recordings were built up from a heavy dub style bass.

THE NOBODIES / THE GENERIC BAND  1981-1983

The Nobodies were founded with Robert Handel (bass) & Mark Sippola (guitar & vocals) in 1981. Tom Moore (guitar) joined in 1982 and the band changed their name to The Generic Band. During the first half of their incarnation, the band recorded and performed (once) in Thunder Bay, Ontario. In 1982, the band relocated to Vancouver, BC and continued to record and perform until mid 1983. Sonically, the band was heavily experimental and very limited in technical abilities with most members having minimal prior musical experience. The styles tended to numerous variants on the punk, post punk, no wave & new wave styles.
